Other Projects
The series of paintings I have shared with you on my site represent many years of exploration. Intermittently, I have created other work including smaller series of paintings, artist books, installations and community projects. This is a small sample of such works. Wheat Paste Sketch for Waterville Creates
12 X 14 inches
pen, watercolor
As there were many newcomers (the French, Lebanese and many others) to the greater Waterville community at the turn of the century and directly following, I was drawn to the parade photographs of the elephants. I played up the idea of elephants as metaphors of displaced individuals attempting to "connect" to a new community (hence the unraveling thread and spool, and relationship to many working in the shirt factory). As folks were coming to Waterville to live and raise families, they were searching for common “thread” and like a young tree laying roots. The elephants are wearing some period dress to encourage a sense of play as is the overall child-like drawing style. It is my hope viewers of all ages can engage with this piece and find the richness, strength and resiliency of this community through it.

In 2018 I spent an entire growing season observing, interpreting, and in conversation with, at an organic vegetable farm in West Gardiner, Maine. This 8 X 8 inch encaustic on panel is an example of some of the works I created as a result of this work.

In 2018 I participated in a show at the Avon Street Gallery in Portland where the focus was an abstraction response to the landscape. I created a dozen works based on recent travels to New York City.
